La prossima settimana Sony annuncerà ufficialmente il suo nuovo "paper disc", un supporto ottico della capacità di 25 Gigabytes costituito al 51% da... carta.
Il prodotto, sviluppato in collaborazione con la Toppan Printing Corp., sfrutta la tecnologia Blue-ray:
The use of paper as a manufacturing material is possible because the laser used to read Blu-ray discs does not have to travel through the disc substrate. Advantages to using paper include the ability to have much more flexibility with printing as well as easy and secure disposal of the discs, since they can be cut up with a pair of scissors.
