[Tech] Giustizia e' fatta: la RIAA schiaccia una ragazzina di 12 anni

Secondo questo articolo su Yahoo! News, Brianna LaHara, 12 anni, è probabilmente la prima persona a finire stritolata dall'ingranaggio legale messo in piedi dalla RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) per combattere la "pirateria musicale" (in pratica il download di file audio tramite servizi di file-sharing come Napster o Kazaa).



La madre di Brianna, Sylvia Torres, ha contattato gli avvocati della RIAA martedì scorso al fine di patteggiare un rimborso-danni di $2.000 e porre termine alla causa legale, una delle prime 261 avviate dall'associazione (ma le persone interessate potrebbero essere oltre 1.500).

"We understand now that file-sharing the music was illegal," Torres said in a statement distributed by the recording industry. "You can be sure Brianna won't be doing it anymore."



Brianna added: "I am sorry for what I have done. I love music and don't want to hurt the artists I love."



The case against Brianna was a potential minefield for the music industry from a public relations standpoint. The family lives in a city housing project on New York's Upper West Side, and they said they mistakenly believed they were entitled to download music over the Internet because they had paid $29.99 for software that gives them access to online file-sharing services.

Ecco che finalmente giustizia è stata fatta, dunque: il Pericolo Pubblico Numero Uno è stato individuato e distrutto; come sempre, il Bene e l'industria discografica trionfano.
