PSX, questo il nome della nuova console, disporrà di un masterizzatore per DVD/R e DVD/RW, un hard disk da 120 GB, un sintonizzatore TV, una porta Ethernet, una porta USB 2.0 e uno slot per Sony Memory Stick.
Per dirla con PSX2.com:
"the thing plays PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games (including online via broadband with existing PS2 and in some cases PC gamers), DVDs and CDs, can pause, rewind and record live TV, burns CDs and DVDs, can instantly read images from Sony digital cameras and will likely play them back in slideshow format without any real prompts upon inserting a Memory Stick, and will basically replace and or condense all living room appliances into one incredibly sexy little package."
La Sony PSX sarà disponibile sul mercato giapponese entro la fine di quest'anno, e in Europa e USA all'inizio del 2004.
Per il rilascio della Playstation 3 bisognerà invece aspettare il 2005.
