Internet - dal Vietnam una notizia buona e una cattiva

La notizia buona è l'attivazione del primo wi-fi hotspot:

"Vietnam Data Communications Co. (VDC) said it has launched the country's first wireless hotspot enabling surfers to access the Internet on their computer laptops or mobile devices.

The subsidiary of the state-owned Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Corp. set up a WiFi (wireless fidelity) hotspot at a Hanoi university on Thursday to test the technology."

Quella cattiva riguarda la condanna a 13 anni di carcere di un dissidente, un dottore vietnamita accusato di avere pubblicato su Internet materiale anti-governativo e di essersi reso colpevole di "spionaggio" (sic):

"-- Pham Hong Son was sentenced to 13 years in prison for espionage and he will be subjected to three years of administrative detention at his residence after serving the prison sentence,-- the Hanoi People's Court said in a statement.



The case, heard under tight security, was closely tracked by human rights groups and diplomats as a fresh sign of Hanoi's intolerance of political dissent. Two dissidents were jailed last year for cyberspace criticism of the communist government."

Recentemente anche in Cina si sono verificati casi di repressione simili a questo: in Maggio quattro attivisti cinesi hanno subito condanne fino a 10 anni di carcere per avere pubblicato su Internet dei testi contenenti critiche al regime di Pechino.
