[Tech] Lindows diventa Lindash

Al fine di rispettare le ordinanze che in alcuni Paesi europei (fra cui l'Olanda) hanno di fatto proibito l'uso del nome commerciale Lindows in quanto "troppo simile" (sic) a Windows, Lindows.com ha deciso di rendere disponibile in quei Paesi la propria distribuzione Linux sotto il nome Lin---s (da pronunciare Lin-dash).

"By removing 3 letters from our product name, Lindows.com will not be creating any confusion regarding Microsoft's supposed trademark on 'windows', and still offer choice in the marketplace," said Lindows.com CEO Michael Robertson in a statement today. "Any action from Microsoft to block Lin---s will show their true intentions are not to protect their trademark, but to eliminate competition and maintain their monopoly."

Lindows.com ha anche attivato una serie di domini Internet, fra cui lin---s.com e lindash.nl.



Sulla homepage di lin---s.com Michael Robertson, CEO della società, ha scritto:

"Dutch citizens deserve the same choices that are currently available to the citizens of more than one hundred countries around the world. LinDash ensures that the Netherlands will have affordable, virus-free options instead of just expensive Microsoft software."

Stiamo a vedere ora cosa si inventerà Microsoft - certo, se impiegasse meno energie e risorse per colpire la concorrenza e invece si occupasse maggiormente di rendere sicuro Windows non credo che nessuno si offenderebbe.
